Angus has a wide range of food and drink producers and retailers offering you the best local produce available. There are a number of sources of fresh local food and drink, some of which are outlined below.
Buying local produce
Our lively local family retailers are giving the big supermarkets a run for their money in each town - good fresh fish suppliers abound, especially in the coastal towns, and excellent family butchers can be found everywhere. Bakeries are particularly good, and fresh local soft fruit and a variety of vegetables can often be purchased at market gardens in the countryside, in season.
Angus Farmers' Market
The Angus Farmers' Market is a great source of fresh and interesting produce, from smoked fish and beef to farm-made cheeses and locally manufactured chutneys and preserves.
Angus hosts two Farmers' Markets every month in Montrose on the first Saturday and in Forfar on the second Saturday. This is an ideal opportunity to buy in session in Angus and purchase delicious local food and drink.
