Golf has been played in Carnoustie Country for over 450 years. On seven occasions, the Open Championship has been settled here with the mighty links of Carnoustie providing the firmest of tests.

The first golfer to triumph was the Scottish-born American Tommy Armour; a US Open winner and then the reigning PGA Champion. The latest was Padraig Harrington after a play-off with Sergio Garcia in 2007.

Only the best prevail at Carnoustie with Ben Hogan, Tom Watson and Paul Lawrie proving the point in 1953, 1975 and 1999 respectively. With drama and excitement aplenty, a win requires nerves of steel aligned with exceptional golf. The 147th Open Championship will be no different.
