Findlay Napier in Concert at The Links Hotel
As acknowledged in the Title of his remarkable 2015 solo debut CD entitled VIP: Very Interesting Persons (No2 in the Daily Telegraph’s top Dozen Folk Albums for that year) Findlay Napier commands musical VIP status.
Findlay has turned those same supreme song writing and storytelling gifts, allied with magpie – minded imagination and truly magnificent vocals, to his adoptive hometown, on VIP’s hotly anticipated follow-up, Glasgow. At the 2018 Celtic Connections Festival, Findlay Napier headlined a stellar concert based around the new CD. His concert at Montrose will include a performance of all the songs on the CD.
Continuing Findlay’s collaboration with Boo Hewerdine, who produced the record, the new CD combines freshly – penned originals with classics and rarities from Glasgow’s vast and colourful Song Canon, by writers as diverse as Hamish Imlach, Michael Marra and The Blue Nile.
The CD forms an extended musical love letter to Scotland’s metropolis, celebrating 20 years since Findlay first arrived as a Student, swopping his idyllic Speyside childhood home for the Fourteenth Floor of Glasgow’s notorious Red Road Flats.
Findlay Napier has been described as “Michael Marra meets Elvis Costello”. His concert at Montrose Folk Club should not be missed.
