Arbroath to Montrose

Route Description

Starting at Arbroath Harbour, follow National Cycle Route 1 to Ferryden for 22km/14m.

TL at Ferryden, SP for Montrose. After 0.8km/0.5m, TL at the RBT onto the A92, SP for Arbroath and then TR onto the A934, SP for Forfar after 1.1km/0.7m. TR at the SP for Barnhead after 1.4km/0.9m. Continue for 2.6km/1.6m and TR, SP for Bridge of
Dun. After 0.4km/0.25m, TL, SP for Haughs of Kinnaird. Continue for 2.3km/1.4m and TL at the X. After 2.6km/1.6m, TL at SP for
Montrose. Continue SO at X, SP for Fithies, crossing the A934.

After 2.6km/1.6m, follow the road to the right, SP for Kinnell. Continue for 3km/1.8m and TL, SP for Boysack. Go SO at the junction after 2.6km/1.6m. After 1.2km/0.7m, at the X, go SO, SP for Arbroath. Continue for 5km/3m through St Vigeans and TL at the T onto Tarry Road. TL at the T and then TR at the RBT. After 0.7km/0.4m, TR at the T. Follow National Cycle Route 1 back to Arbroath Harbour for 3.9km/2.4m.

Points of interest on this route include Lunan Bay, Red Castle and Montrose Basin.
